25th May, 2008 - The One That Got Away With rain drizzling most of the day there was no action in the garden today.
We could only stand and watch the garden grow from the window - albeit, through perfectly fitted fly screens!!!
Desperate to be outdoors we took the dogs for an afternoon stroll, chucked tea bags on the compost heap and fed the rabbits - it was at this point that the action started.
Whilst feeding Bunty and her babies, 2 of the small rabbits decided to play a game of 'tag' - 1 leapt right over the food and water trays, fell to the ground and then made a dash for freedom.
Tracey kept control of the dogs, whilst Dan removed his shirt (any excuse!) to throw over the small rabbit.
It dodged us both, leaving Dan standing knee deep in compost and Tracey attempting a last minute goal-keepers save by diving on the ground (Dan hasn't seen Tracey move that quick since the last shoe shop sale!)
It was all to no avail and we, together with the dogs and the cat, watched the 5 week old rabbit disappear into the field behind.
One less for the pot! View The Blog Read All Rabbit Stories |
