25th June, 2008 - 2 Down, 18 To Go!!

The morning tour of the bird pound highlighted once again to us that "no matter what we do to rear healthy livestock and grow organic fruit & veg, we will always be up against Mother Nature"

We had another dead turkey this morning!

A white one, which we'd named Patch as he was blind in one eye. Surprisingly though, Patch had not been picked on by the others, but he was clearly the runt of the litter.

Not much bigger than a pigeon and stiff as a board, Patch was laid to rest...in the wheelie bin!

Despite the nursery pens now having a netted roof, Blanche had managed to transport herself from the egg laying pen into the turkey pen.

Quite how she did this, we don't know, but if she does it again, we'll have to call her Houdini!
