Aug 05 - Indie Strikes Again! One lovely summers day, with temperatures of 90F, we thought it'd be nice to let our ducks out into the big wide world and let them have a swim in our pond, rather than the basin of water that they had been splashing in.
Well, like all little children when they are having a nice day they just don't want it to end.
The difference is that with kids, you can reason with them, bribe them or threaten them if you have to but none of this was working with Duck Turpin (he's the one with a black band over his eyes) and his mates.

At the end of the day they were having none of it and stayed well out of our way, splashing around the deep end of the pond. You could almost hear them laughing at us.
We'd previously arranged to go out that evening but were worried about leaving the ducks out. Having animals is just like having kids all over again (but without the gas & air) - you worry unnecessarily about the most ridiculous things.
So, we went out as there really was little else we could do.
Unbeknown to us at the time, Indie (our sheep shagging German Shepard) had a flavour for all things duck and as the evening wore on, Duck Turpin climbed ashore to dry off - Indie was licking his lips!
In fact, he enjoyed the starter so much that he went back for seconds!
And like all good fairytales, the moral of this story is "do as your parents tell you and you won't get hurt!" View The Blog Read All Duck Stories |
