22nd August, 2008 - Just When We Thought It Was Safe To Go Back To The Turkey Enclosure 2 more dead turkeys!
Despite unlimited food being available, fresh tap water every day and enclosed away from the chickens, 2 more turkeys have died!
This really is becoming annoying as not only is it the suffering of the animal, the waste of money so far, but it's the fact that we won't be getting any meat.
One fully grown turkey of around 35lb will provide us with over 20 meals for 3 people - therefore, with each turkey that dies, that's 20 family meals that we lose.
While this may sound calous, it's how our life is here. Animals are kept as livestock, not pets and while we give them the very best possible lives, their ultimate destination is our dinner table and that is our priority.
A good search through the internet is yielding no results and Dan has decided that as and when the next one dies, he will do an autopsy to see if there is anything obvioulsy going wrong inside the birds because externally, they look fine and healthy. View The Blog Read All Turkey Stories |
