4th October, 2008 - Chicken Pathe News Our friends Geoff & Steve delivered 11 chickens to us this morning.

Steve's neighbour is a French poultry farmer and these chickens have come direct from him and are just a few weeks old.

2 of the chickens are too small to stay outside and they would not survive the elements - especially given the frost we had last night.
As a result, they were put in a spare rabbit hutch with plenty of straw to keep them warm. As the 2 runts will not have to fight for survival against their bigger peers, they should gain weight quickly.
They can then be released into the bird pound at a later date when they too, will be able to enjoy a free-range, organic lifestyle.

Once the birds had been settled in, Dan quickly made an 'A-frame' shelter and filled it with straw - we are now, only too aware how important it is to keep our little feathered friends happy and warm during their early days.
