Aug 04 - Never Mind Counting Them, Catching Sheep Is Tiring Enough Tracey's brother, Terry, and his family were staying with us.
Terry looked out of the kitchen window and thought he saw our German Shepard, Indie, but when he looked again he realised it wasn't and exclaimed "did you know you've got a sheep in your garden?"
We knew that by ditching our pin-stripe suits and leaving civvy street a few months earlier that our life in France would be different, but chasing sheep for a pastime was not something that we had envisaged.
It's only when you get up close to a sheep that you realise how big and heavy they actually are.
They also run very fast!
As we approached the animal making soft, soothing cooing noises we had hoped that the animal would come to us quite willingly - the sheep, however, had other ideas and needless to say, it ran amok in the garden, in the recently planted veggie patch and just for good measure, trampled on our young rose bushes.
Unfortunately there are no photos or video footage to record what happened, but according to Terry and his wife Karen, it was very funny to watch and all that was missing was the Benny Hill music.
Eventually we did capture the animal and our good friends Peter & Karen arrived just as the sheep was being thrown back over the fence to join the rest of the flock.
After all that excertion it was unanimously decided that we needed a shower, or at the very least a sheep dip, before we could get on with the serious business of having a BBQ. View The Blog Read All Sheep Stories |
